Signing of the Agreement on Special Relations

The Principal Deputy High Representative Jacques Paul Klein expressed his disappointment today on behalf of the International Community that the signing of the Agreement on Special Relations between the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, which was scheduled for today, has been postponed.

On Saturday, the OHR was informed that the parties concerned had agreed to a postponement due to procedural reasons. These issues will be resolved this week, and the signing ceremony is now scheduled to take place on 16 November 1998.

The final and approved draft of the Agreement on Special Relations was initialed on 27 October 1998 by Federation President Ejub Ganic, Vice President Vladimir Soljic and the Chairman of the negotiating team Kasim Trnka on behalf of the Federation, and by Foreign Minister Mate Granic and Ivic Pasalic on behalf of the Republic of Croatia. The agreement was witnessed by Ambassador Klein on behalf of the OHR and by Ambassador Richard Sklar on behalf of the United States Government.
