PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The selected candidate will work on legal aid reform, domestic war crimes trial reform and other related rule of law issues. He/she will work under the general and direct supervision of the Head of the Human Rights and Rule of Law Department and under the direct supervision of the Rule of Law Officer for Sarajevo.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing advice and research on local issues to Rule of Law officers in both the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska;
- Providing advice and recommendations on the structure of the judicial system in BiH;
- Acting as liaison to local officials;
- Assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of the overall judicial reform strategy
- Obtaining and translating laws and regulations and providing other general support as required.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Law
- At least three years of experience in practicing law or related experience
- Knowledge of law regulations
- Thorough understanding of the BiH political situation
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to work in a team as well as unsupervised
- Willingness to work with people from various cultural backgrounds
