The PLIP Agencies (OHR, UNHCR, OSCE and CRPC) announced today the Property Law Implementation statistics for the month of July 2003.  They noted an overall increase of two per cent in the Property Law Implementation rate, which stands at 86 per cent throughout BiH as of the end of July 2003.

Ninety-three per cent of the total property claims recorded have been resolved in Brčko District, which is an increase of 1 per cent since June; a rise of 1 per cent was noted in the Federation of BiH, where 87 per cent of the total claims have been resolved, while in Republika Srpska 85 per cent of claims have been solved which represents a rise of 5 per cent from the June 2003 figure. Of the total of 224,263 claims throughout BiH, there are still around 30,000 claims unresolved.

According to the July PLIP statistics, 45 municipalities have finalized their property claims caseload, the latest municipality being Srpsko Goražde. PLIP agencies expect that more municipalities will very soon follow this path and will go on to demonstrate their substantial completion of all legal obligations under the property laws, in accordance with the PLIP Municipal Guidelines for Substantial Completion of Property Law Implementation.
