Property Law Implementation Ratio in October 2003 stands at 91 per cent in the Federation of BiH and the RS

PLIP agencies (OHR, OSCE, UNHCR and CRPC) are announcing today the PLIP Statistics for the month of October. The overall implementation ratio stands now at the same level of 91 per cent in both the Federation of BiH and the Republika Srpska, while the implementation ratio in Brcko District stands at 96 per cent. As at end October, 199,913 habitable properties were repossessed by their legitimate claimants. The rate of decisions issued is 99 per cent, which means that almost all the claimants have now received a first instance decision.

Sixty-two municipalities have completed all pending cases and established a cut off date in order to verify Property Law Implementation Substantial Completion. All the remaining housing authorities are engaged in the effort of completing their caseload by the end of December 2003, as required by the New Strategic Direction.

As Property Law Implementation approaches completion the PLIP agencies would like to re-emphasise to the public that many municipalities will finish property law implementation with an implementation ratio below 100 per cent. This is due to the fact that some property claims have not resulted in repossessions.
