Members of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) stated today that the adoption by the Republika Srpska National Assembly of the Law on the Status of State Property Situated on the Territory of the RS and Under the Disposal Ban is a unilateral act that undermines the long-term effort to allocate state property in a way that ensures the functionality of all levels of authority in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and that will actually benefit all citizens in the country.

Resolving the issues of state and defence property in a sustainable way is necessary to ensure that BiH has the necessary resources to meet the challenges ahead, including accession to the European Union and BiH’s full participation in NATO’s Membership Action Plan.

The Steering Board Ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council have repeatedly warned that such unilateral acts will not resolve the state and defence property objectives and only further delay completion of the 5+2 agenda and the closure of the Office of the High Representative (OHR).

Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, the Presidency of the European Union, the European Commission, and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which is represented by Turkey joined in this statement today.
