PDHR Visits ICTY

Principal Deputy High Representative (PDHR) Dr. Raffi Gregorian made an official visit to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague from 20-22 June 2010.  He held several meetings, including with Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, Registrar John Hocking, Spokesperson Nerma Jelacic, and Chief of Investigations Bob Reid.  The main topics were how to further enhance efforts to help Serbia locate and arrest Ratko Mladic and issues connected to war crimes investigations and prosecutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The PDHR took the opportunity of his visit to sit-in on part of the trial of Radovan Karadzic.

Full cooperation with the ICTY, including apprehension of fugitive persons indicted for war crimes, is an integral requirement of the Dayton Peace Agreement, appearing on its first page and throughout the document.  ”Bringing Mladic to justice remains a high priority for OHR and will continue to be so until he is in The Hague, where he will have to answer for his actions just as Karadzic is having to do now,” said PDHR Gregorian.
