Sarajevo - Krajisnik and VRS General Colic attended the first SCMM session. Another obligation from the DPA was implemented, and the SCMM was the last joint institution left to be established. The SCMM's main aim is to stabilise the situation and find a solution for overcoming conflicts if they occur.

14 September 97, 19:30 The whole central news was devoted to reports on the local elections. Media Centre OSCE - The local elections in BiH have finished. According to unofficial OSCE information, 89 per cent of the 2,5 million registered voters cast votes in the communities where they lived before 1991.

The elections were carried out in a democratic and peaceful atmosphere. This morning, Acting President of the SDS, Buha also voted, and said that he had mixed feelings - satisfaction, because the RS has its local elections for the first time, and bitterness, because a lot of people did not succeed to exercise their democratic right.

12 September 1997, 19:30 Late last night in Zagreb at a meeting between Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, OSCE and Bosnian Croat officials, the HDZ agreed to change its decision and to take part in the local elections. The pre-election silence started at 7 a.m. this morning, and will last unit Saturday 13, at 7 a.m. According to OSCE and the PEC, there are 1,546.679 people registered in the RS, and 1,343.319 in the Federation. HR Westendorp invited all the people in the RS and Federation to vote.

10 September 97, 19:30 Sarajevo - RS member in the BH Presidency Momcilo Krajisnik notified the BiH CoM that he was not able to attend the scheduled session due to technical reasons. Pale - 44 MP's attended the 12th Parliament session today and decided that the local elections will be held in the RS on September 13 and 14. They agreed that the conditions for the holding of elections improved, requesting from OSCE to cast ballots both in Sarajevo and Sokolac.

9 September 97, 19:30 Mostar - At an emergency session today, the HDZ Presidency decided not to participate in the local elections. The Presidency took the view that conditions for free and democratic election had not been met in an atmosphere where the DPA and electoral rules had been flagrantly violated.
