One of the most important economic plants of the RS – the revitalised oil refinery S. Brod was put into operation today by RS Prime Minister M. Dodik. The opening was attended by the President of the Steering Board of the refinery – Zivko Radisic.

The RS President, Biljana Plavsic in Banja Luka today received the SPO (Serb movement of revival) President, Vuk Draskovic. At this sincere meeting they talked about current happenings in the RS and Serbia and the necessity of defeating Albanian terrorism in Kosovo.

The RS President in Banja Luka today hosted a European Parliament delegation led by Mr. Robles and Mrs. Doris Pack. The Parliamentarians were interested in the current political situation in the Republic and expressed the conviction that the forthcoming elections would mean a step towards global progress. These high-ranking guests from Strasbourg spoke with the RS Prime Minister in a separate meeting.

RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik today visited the office furniture factory “Lignosper” in Novi Grad. “It is nice to hear that 170 people were recently employed and that 20 more shall be employed soon. The fact that the WB had confidence in the managing structure of the “Lignosper” factory and in the RS Government as well, and allocated a significant credit for its reconstruction and revitalisation, shows which way to go…”, the Prime Minister stated in N. Grad.

The Japanese Government has allocated $32 million for the reconstruction of the electric power system of B&H, i.e. reconstruction of the steam power stations and coal mines Ugljevik, Gacko, Kakanj and Tuzla. The Agreement on credit was signed today in Sarajevo by the co-chairman of the B&H CoM, Boro Bosic and the Japanese Ambassador to B&H. The credit should be paid off in 30 years, the rate is 0.75% and the grace period would last for 5 years. The Agreement will be forwarded to the Presidency for final approval and the B&H Parliamentary Assembly for ratification.

At a press conference of international organisations held today in Banja Luka, the IPTF spokesperson, Alun Roberts, stated that three more Serb houses had been torched in Drvar and several elderly Serbs abused. An OSCE spokesperson stated that the previous day 3,200 monitors had arrived in the country to monitor the elections in B&H, Croatia and FRY.

The Association of Veterans of the RS from Brcko sent a protest letter to the OHR, Executive Board of the Municipality of Brcko and the Police Station, which inter alia says: “…the holding of the tribune of the SDP of B&H is an intentional provocation directed against Serbs, first of all against the families of deceased soldiers, war invalids, detained and missing persons.”
