RS President, Biljana Plavsic, received several international delegations today and visited Prijedor. The President spoke to Anthony Lloyd, Deputy Foreign Minister of the UK. They discussed the present situation, the forthcoming elections and the media. At the press conference after the meeting, the President said that Mr. Lloyd was interested in the process of privatisation and that ordinary people could feel the dangers behind it. She expressed the hope that the IC would help privatisation to be carried out in a correct manner which would be of some benefit to the people of the RS. Mrs. Lloyd stated for the SRT:

łI am delighted to be in BL today. The British Government has a very high level of expectations for the people of the RS, and the same aspirations for all the people who live in B&H. Between now and the assembly elections here in the RS, it is important that all political views have access to the media. We believe that these assembly elections in the RS are a great opportunity for the people of the RS to have their say and to decide what their future is. In that light I am delighted that I had this chance to meet the RS President, Biljana Plavsic, here today.˛.

The high delegation of the European Center for Peace and Development visited BL today and met President Plavsic, Vice President Dragoljub Mirjanic, representatives of the municipal authorities and representatives of the leading parties.

The aim of the ECPDąs visit was assistance for reconstruction, i.e. the realisation of projects and education of personnel. War invalids would also be included in some of the projects, it was said at the meeting.

The ECDP is planning to organise post-graduate studies in BL.

The President visited Prijedor today. In a meeting with local authorities she talked about the implementation of the local election results and about the political-security situation. The President stated that the RS would not give up the DA and that the parliamentary elections would stop the political crisis and divisions within the RS.

Gojko Klickovic, president of the RS Government, and General-Major Pero Colic, the Head of the General Staff of the VRS, visited Bijeljina today on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the Aviation Center Orao (The Eagle), which was removed from Rajlovac to Bijeljina two years ago. 35 sec

Gojko Klickovic today assessed that the demands of the International Supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, regarding a multi-ethnic administration, Police and judiciary were rash and inapplicable in practice. Klickovic expressed his expectations that Farrandąs demands would be amended.

łI consider that Mr. Farrand is not sufficiently familiar with the status of the Municipality of Brcko and its regulations and most probably this is the reason that his office issued such orders. I hope that everything is open to revision,˛ Klickovic said.

Klickovic announced changes in the municipal authorities which meant an adaptation to the Supervisorąs orders.

The number of political parties which will stand in the forthcoming parliamentary elections is significantly reduced.

The member of the PEC from the RS, Slobodan Kovac, stated that 28 parties, 3 coalitions and 18 independent candidates would stand in the elections, and added that at todayąs meeting if the PEC held in Sarajevo it was also confirmed that the elections would take place on November 22 & 23.

The pre-election campaign starts on Saturday, November 1st.

50 representatives out of 60 attended a session of the Municipal Assembly of Prnjavor today. The new Assembly consists of members of SDS, Serb Radical Party, Socialist party of RS, Serb Peasants Party, Serb Patriotic Party and Coalition for united and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina, the members of which failed to participate in todayąs session.

The president of the Municipality and his Deputy (both from SDS) were elected.

Slobodan Milosevic, the FRY President, received Jacques Klein, the Principal High Representative, and his assistants today in Belgrade. They spoke about the implementation of the DA and about overcoming the crisis in the RS. Milan Milutinovic, Federal Foreign Minister, attended the meeting.
