President Plavsic and Robert Farrand talked about tomorrow’s donors’ conference in Brcko, where they expect representatives of 20 countries and 10 international financial institutions to participate. They also talked about the fate of refugees in Brcko. Farrand said that all of them had human rights which he himself would also protect. He assessed co-operation with the authorities in Brcko as negative so far. Private businessmen from the RS and Federation of BiH from the area of prewar Brcko are going to take part in the work of the mini-donors conference organised by the office of supervisor Farrand.

Westendorp confirmed that international aid that arrives in the Union of BiH is ending up, for the most part, in the pockets of corrupt politicians. Simon Haselock, spokesman for OHR, rejected as unfounded accusations regarding reports on spending the income from customs duties on illegal trade. He said that this report was the result of thorough investigation by experts of a European organisation.

Assembly board members voted for the mayor today. The candidates were Nebojsa Radmanovic from SPRS and Aleksandar Iliskovic from SSKP. However, after voting, none of the candidates had the necessary majority of votes. 30 people voted for Radmanovic, 25 for Iliskovic and 12 ballots were invalidate. The session will be continued tomorrow.

The summit of Balkan countries, dedicated to the improvement of mutual co-operation, began today on the Greek island of Crete. The Heads of Government of FRY, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Rumania and Albania participate in this summit.
