The RS Government adopted the energy balance for the current year, at its 43rd session held today in Banja Luka. The session will continue tomorrow with discussion on turnover of goods with the FRY. Deputy PM, Ostoja Kremenovic, stated that the Government was discussing this issue today, but did not decide on the regulations.

In an interview to SRNA today, PM Dodik spoke about election of the PM nominee, Brcko arbitration and payment operations between the RS and FRY. Dodik stated that Miljus said that his aim was not to be the PM but to destabilise the RS. The PM said that the Coalition “Sloga” will hold on to its concept and proposal for the PM and that their proposal is the only one which can get NA majority support. Speaking of payment operations with the FRY, Dodik said that the conclusion of a meeting between President Poplasen and President of the FRY, Slobodan Milosevic was that payment operations will be re-established once the new RS Government is established.

Ambassador of Turkey in BiH, Ahmet Erozan, had separate meetings today with President Poplasen, PM Dodik, RS NA Speaker, Petar Djokic, Deputy PM, Savo Loncar. The discussions centered on mutual cooperation between the RS and Turkey, leaning on the DA. After the meetings, Ambassador Erozan stated that one of the issues discussed was the use of credits offered by Turkey to BiH, i.e. its entities RS and BiH Federation.

PM Dodik and President Poplasen met with the delegation of Norway, led by Janne Haaland, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, in separate meetings. They discussed the current political situation and possibilities for overcoming the problem of the election of a new RS Government.

PM Dodik today met with Deputy Director of the World Bank, Samio Mitra and the discussion centered on the forthcoming cooperation and economic reforms in the RS. Mitra stated that PM Dodik will meet with high officials of the WB during his announced official visit to the USA. They will discuss the significant economic assistance which the WB plans to realise in the RS during the current year.

A new mission of the IMF, led by the Director of IMF for BiH, Fernandez Ansola is established in the RS. The mission will negotiate with RS Government’s officials on continuation of the stand-by arrangement between the RS and the IMF. The mission will review the realised budget of the RS for the last year and the Draft Budget for 1999.

Vice President of the SPRS, Dragutin Ilic today stated at a press conference that in the event that President Poplasen does not appoint Milorad Dodik for the new PM nominee, the “Sloga” Coalition would have to have an alternative solution for the new PM. In reference to the Brcko Arbitration, Ilic said that the arbitration decision must be final this time and that if it would mean that Brcko would be exempted from the RS, all the progress made so far in this city would be endangered.
