May the 3rd was a commemoration day for all those who gave their lives for the freedom of the people. On this occasion His Holiness Patriarch Pavle performed a requiem in Jajinci.

Also, a holy liturgy was observed in the village of Drakulic near Banja Luka on the occasion of the orthodox feast of the temple of the Holy George, the great martyr. RS President Biljana Plavsic, representatives of the municipal authorities, as well as the representatives of some political parties, attended the service.

Dazdarevo, a peaceful Semberija village, contributed a great deal to the defence of the RS in the last civil war. In their honour, a monument in remembrance of their great deed was consecrated and unveiled today.

The Italian government is trying, more than other western government, to give an impetus to finding a solution for the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. In this regards, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lamberto Dini, along with the Prime Minister Romano Prodi, is leaving for Washington tomorrow where he will ask the support of U.S. President Bill Clinton. In the meantime, attacks from Shipter terrorists in Kosovo and Metohija continue. Moreover, attempts at illegally entering the country over the Albanian-Yugoslav border are increasing.

Concerning the case of the “Jasenovac” concentration camp commander, Dinko Sakic, a correspondent for Belgrade-based daily “Vecernje novosti” from Zagreb, Milenko Predragovic, reports:

” Croatia is very worried because the IC has forced it to accept the extradition of the former commander of the “Jasenovac” concentration camp, Dinko Sakic….Even the most famous attorneys are not ready to defend Dinko Sakic, which comes as a surprise, given that it was expected that this war criminal would have great support from the Croatian judiciary…. Croatia would be most satisfied if something suddenly happened to Dinko Sakic in the forests of Argentina….

Predrag Lazarevic, president of the SSKP, sent a letter to Krajisnik requesting the BiH presidency to ask the Argentina authorities to extradite Dinko Sakic to BiH, since, as stated in the letter, Jasenovac victims come mainly from the RS and FBiH. Also, the biggest mass grave, Gradina, lies on RS territory.

The inhabitants of Doboj celebrate the 3rd of May as liberation day. On this occasion they lit candles in the temple of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and paid their respects to all those who lost their lives defending the country during the Bosnian conflict.

The International Press Institute, seated in Vienna, criticised plans of America and its allies who intend to form a Commission charged with controlling the work of the media in the RS and FBiH, a German news agency, DPA, reports. In a letter sent to the U.S. Minister of Defence, William Cohen, the Institute appeals for the abandonment of any plans to create such a mechanism aimed at limiting the rights of the media and collecting and distributing information.

The FBiH Minister of Interior, Mehmed Zilic, rejected the last agreement on police reconstruction in the Livno Canton, assessing it as absolutely unacceptable in terms of the content and the way it was made, Sarajevo Radio reports.

The President of the municipal Council of Stolac, Kemal Isakovic, sent a letter to the HR, Carlos Westendorp, yesterday informing him about the most recent vandalism committed by the Croatian extremists on May 1st when they mined three Moslem houses.
