BiH Presidency appointed CoM Co-chairmen Haris Silajdzic and Svetozar Mihajlovic, while Neven Tomic was elected for CoM Vice-Chairman, Presidency member Izetbegovic’s cabinet announced.

The Protocol on uniting of the SDP and BiH Social Democrats was officially signed today in Tuzla. The protocol regulates principles of union valid until the Union Congress, which will be held on February 27 1999 in Sarajevo. The new party is called Social Democratic Party of BiH (SDP). SDP President Lagumdzija and BiH Social Democrats president Beslagic signed the protocol.

OSCE Verification Mission in Kosovo announced that cease-fire was agreed in this province. OSCE President Geremek said that should the violence in Kosovo continue OSCE should reconsider its role in Kosovo.

Reacting to HR Westendorp’s letter containing tasks to be done 1999, Una/Sana Canton President Veladzic said that most of the tasks in 1998 were fulfilled, including election results implementation and accommodation for Serb member of the municipality council. A big surprise was also Westendorp’s demand to cease the practice of non-recognising education that students in Velika Kladusa and Cazin obtained during the war. Veladzic also said he s conducting his work with highest responsibility and that all issues are verifiable so there is no reason for any concern whatsoever.
