News Summary SDA kicks off local election campaign in Sarajevo Novi Grad Municipality

The SDA kicked off its pre-election campaign for the upcoming BiH local elections with a rally in the Sarajevo Novi Grad Municipality on Saturday. The SDA Main Board, before the election rally, elected its Election HQ and HQ President Sulejman Tihic. In an address to SDA sympathizers, SDA Vice-president Ejup Ganic stated that those attending the rally were the “heroes” while those attending the rallies of other political parties were “cellar dwellers” (referring to those who hid in cellars during the war). SDA President Alija Izetbegovic spoke on SDA achievements in the past period, including the defense of BiH, defeating the aggression on BiH and the creation of the BiH army. According to Izetbegovic, the SDA put an end to autocracy and introduced democracy to BiH.

SDP BiH holds election rally in Srebrenik

“We do not have the rule of law in BiH because the Dayton Agreement has not been implemented” said SDP BiH Main Board Chairman Selim Beslagic. He told a SDP BiH election rally in Srebrenik on Saturday that the SDP would wage an intensive battle against crime. He added that US President Bill Clinton had to face a court while “we in BiH cannot bring common criminals and liars to face justice.” SDP BiH Vice-president Gradimir Gojer criticized the privatization process in BiH, saying it was a method invented by criminals to bilk citizens of their property through the use of certificates.

Police have informative chat with SDP BiH delegates in Banovic

Taking SDP BiH Banovic Municipal Board delegates into custody for questioning by the police was an act against their human rights, SDP BiH Board for Legal and Humanitarian Protection Chairwoman Suada Hadzovic stated on Saturday. Hadzovic said that this was part of the SDA strategy of attacks on the SDP BiH in order to keep power, material interests and links with corruption.

BiH media extended hand of state terrorism – BPS

The BPS is disappointed with the attitude of the media in BiH in regards to this party. According to the BPS, (BiH) media is the extended hand and an integral part of state terrorism. That BPS suggests that Haris Silajdzic withdraw his signature from the “Dayton capitulation” and join the BPS. Commenting on the HNV initiative on BiH cantonization, BPS categorically discards all agreements on BiH division, from Lisbon to Dayton. The BPS considers that these agreements are anti-constitutional and against the will of the citizens and defenders of BiH.

Three ethnically-clean territories remain in BiH – Silajdzic

The situation in BiH following the Dayton Agreement draws the conclusion that there is a tendency toward “maintaining three ethnically clean territories in BiH” Haris Silajdzic said in a release on Saturday. “These current ethnic divisions were created by aggression, crimes and human rights violations and, unfortunately, there are intentions of keeping the situation as it is” Silajdzic assessed. In the release, Silajdzic gave a number of reasons for abandoning the Dayton Peace Agreement. The introduction of the P2 Form in 1996 elections allowed more than 220,000 citizens of the BiH Federation to vote in RS elections. They, in fact, had (negative) influence over the results (cementing the results of aggression and ethnic cleansing). The free movement of war criminals back then enabled the election victory of political parties responsible for war crimes and ethnic cleansing in some regions of BiH. Silajdzic said that the current BiH draft election law for upcoming elections also neglects 1991 election principles and abuses the right of choice concerning one’s place of residence in order to legalize the current situation. “The International Community was aware of the fact that such an election system would bring victory to extremist political parties, those that want the division of BiH” Silajdzic stated. The privatization process rounds out the concept of ethnically clean ownership. This, along with the fact that only 0.05% of refugee returns have been to urban centers, completes this picture of the non-implementation the most essential aspects of the Dayton peace agreement, Silajdzic concluded in the release.
