The SNS Assembly voted non-confidence in the former Chairman, Biljana Plavsic. 129 delegates voted against her. The new Chairman is Dragan Kostic. Reported by Biljana Arsic.

At the Secong Congress of the Socialist Party, Zivko Radisic was re-elected as the Chairman of the party. Petar Dokic was appointed as his deputy. This was the third political defeat of Radisic’s competitor, Tihomir Gligoric. The new leadership will resign, if the party wins small number of votes on the forthcoming general elections. American and Russian presidents, Bill Clinton and Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on destruction of large quantity of radioactive plutonium. The two countries will destroy 34 tones of plutonium each. The unprecedented agreement bounds the USA and Russia to continue their co-operation. “A new, joint information centre will be opened in Mocsow. Experts from both countries will work there together”, Mr Clinton said. He will adress the Russian House of Commons tomorrow. OBN reporter Adis Saranovic produced the report.

The World Bank project worth DM 225 million for transformation of B&H power supply system, was postponed. The “Elektroprivreda B&H” should transform into precisely defined fields: production, distribution and power transmission. “The World Bank decided to wait until the RS accepts the agreed principles”, said the B&H Minister of Trade, Mirsad Kurtovic. The OSCE feels that the results of the April elections are implemented faster than before. 85 municipality heads were appointed. “In general, we are satisfied with implementation of the election results”, said Tanya Domi, the OSCE Spokesperson.
