Janja

2000 pre-war inhabitants of Janja protested 50 km from their home town, because they cannot return to their houses. They made a declaration in which they demand immediate return to their homes. The report was produced by Igor Kozulovic.

50 Bosniacs, war victims were buried in Jelec, near Foca. Muslim religious leader, Mustafa Ceric attended the funeral.

A group of old Bosniacs returned to their homes in Kratina, near Foca. They still haven’t received the promised aid. The youngest person among them is 65 years old. They are in a very difficult situation. Reported by Damir Kaletovic.

Sarajevo

The German Defence Minister, Rudolph Scharping visited German troops within SFOR today. Number of SFOR soldiers will not be reduced until the end of 2001, said Scharping. One of tasks of German soldiers will be to arrest the indicted war criminals, he added. Germany will continue helping B&H, said Scharping. OBN journalist, Zeljka Lekic produced the report.

Sarajevo

The IMF defined new terms that the Federation of B&H should fulfil in order to get support in reform implementation. The new terms are: the work market reform and surplus of assets for pension funds. They should be realised within 12 months. “We have a lot of work to do, but I think that the Government will fulfil these terms”, said Juan Jose Fernandez Ansola, the Head of the IMF mission. Sarajevo

Pensions for December should be paid in May. “Our aim is to balance revenues and expenditures”, said Sulejman Garib, Minister of work and social policy. The Federation Parliament have discussed the issue of Law on pension and invalid insurance since 1996. OBN journalist, Amarildo Gutic produced the report.

Presidents of 11 countries from Central, East and Southeast Europe completed their unofficial summit in Hungary. One of the themes was integration of oil companies in Croatia.

Russia will appoint the head of the transitory government for Cechenia. They will also form a division that will be permanently stationed in Cechenia.

Zagreb

The new Croatian Government started a procedure in order to change the Constitutional Law on minorities. Bosniac minority should get their place in the Constitution. They will participate in the Government according to the census which will be organised in 2001. For now, their situation will not change significantly. Reported by Gordana Simonovic from Zagreb.

Belgrade is compared to Chicago these days, because many murders that took place recently and this doesn’t surprise anyone any longer. Belgrade journalist, Bojana Lekic analysed the situation for OBN.

One of the first NGOs that was founded in Belgrade were “Women in Black”. They publicly spoke about crimes and opposed openly to Milosevic’s regime. According to the organisation’s members, present situation in Belgrade is not optimistic. Reported by Mirna Sadikovic.
