Kosovo

UN Secretary-General, Javier Solana, announced today that all Serb troops had left Kosovo and that NATO air strikes against Yugoslavia were officially cancelled.

A three day summit with heads of states and governments from the G8 countries (the seven most developed countries in the world plus Russia), ended today in Koln. It was announced that EUR 30 billion had been pledged for the economic reconstruction of eight countries from the Balkans, including BiH.

More than 100,000 refugees have returned to Kosovo to date. The Yugoslav Press Agency, TANJUG, announced that approximately 1,200 Serb refugees have return to Kosovo as well, escorted by several ministers. According to the British Sunday Telegraph, KFOR troops have discovered five concentration camps in Kosovo with 60,000 Kosovo Albanians.

Sarajevo

After a meeting with the European Council delegation, the BiH Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic, held a press conference. He said that it was important to achieve better living standards in all fields in BiH.

EC representatives reiterated that there were no realistic chances for the BiH membership in the EC at the moment.

This was followed by a report from the meeting of the Independent Intellectuals Association “Circle 99”. The USA Ambassador in BiH, Richard Kauzlarich, guest at the meeting, talked about corruption, ethics and civil society. The current USA Ambassador in BiH leaves the country in August.

Neum

A report from a seminar held during the weekend in Neum. The International League of Humanists held a seminar about tourism. The conclusion of the seminar was that although BiH has natural preconditions, it is not enough for the development of tourism. Participants highlighted slow privatization process as one of the main obstacles for development of tourism.

World

A report on the current situation in Kashmir and deployment of 30,000 Indian troops on the border with Pakistan was followed by a piece on the continuation of negotiations between North and South Korea in Beijing. A report on the Iraqi President, Sadam Husein, as the sixth, richest man in the world, was presented.

Sarajevo

The first generation of pupils graduated at the Bosniak Grammar School in Sarajevo. The seventz three graduates were presented with diplomas at the ceremony last night.

Kiseljak / Fojnica

This was followed by a report on the thirty seventh generation of pupils who finished secondary schools in Kiseljak and Fojnica. Two hundred and two pupils received diplomas.

Una-Sana Canton

A report on the meeting of the Una-Sana Canton teachers who have made an analysis of the current situation regarding elementary schooling system in the Canton. Teachers ask their salaries to be paid. Azra Bajric, OBN reporter from the Canton, produced the report.

Neum

Children’s magazine “Pet plus” organized a competition between pupils from elementary schools during the weekend in Neum. Thirty one teams, including three teams from the RS, participated in the mathematics and science competition.

Banja Luka

A report on Sunday’s duty services in Banja Luka. OBN reporter from Banja Luka, Biljana Kovacic, reported on police, emergency station and fire stations in the town.

Sport

A report on preparations for the European Championship in basketball was followed by a report from the Intertoto Cup where the football team “Jedinstvo” from Bihac won the match against the team of the Faroe Islands. Results from the international hockey and motorbike races were presented.

UK

A story about the wedding of the British Queen’s youngest son was presented.
