Zepa

About 50 citizens of Zepa municipality returned to their village Lase. They will stay in tents and try to repair their homes, so that they could leave other people’s flats in the Federation of B&H. Reported by Damir Kaletovic.

The OSCE announced official election results today. The “open list” system was very successful, said Dieter Woltmann, the Deputy Head of the Election Commission. Voters understood and used the new system, he added. Voters’ turnout in the Federation of B&H was about 66%, and about 70% in the RS. The report was produced by Zeljka Lekic.

The SDA will not recognise the election results in “suspicious” municipalities, said Adnan Rondic, the SDA Spokesman. At the moment, the SDA is analysing election results, he added. The HDZ will fire part of their staff, because of the bad election results. Several HDZ headquarters were closed for the same reason. The report was produced by Blazica Kristo.

These elections were more honest and opener than any previous, said Tanya Domi, the OSCE Spokesperson. According to the EASC, the elections were regular, she added. Deadline for election results implementation for individuals starts tomorrow, said Ms Domi. They should fill in the questionnaires regarding the financial situation within the next 15 days, she added. OBN reporter Vedran Persic made an interview with Ms Domi.

Banja Luka

The B&H Presidency member, Zivko Radisic said that the Council of Ministers Co-president Svetozar Mihajlovic wasted his chance to be a candidate for Chairman of the Council, due to his recent public interviews. Radisic’s standpoints are unacceptable for the RS Government, said Milorad Dodik, the RS Prime Minister. Everyone in the RS should realise that a Law on co-operation with the Hague Tribunal is necessary, Dodik added. Reported by Tatjana Lajsic from Banja Luka.

The British Prime Minister and his Irish counterpart discussed the renewal of peace process for Northern Ireland.

The Palestinian leader, Jaser Arafat arrived in Washington, where he shall meet the American President, Bill Clinton, in order to discuss a final peace agreement with Israel.

The Former Prime Minister of Slovakia, Vladimir Mechiar, has been released from prison, after the police arrested him for interrogation this morning.

The Italian President, Carlo Ciampi discussed the possible D’Alemma’s successor with Italian officials. Possible candidates are the Finance Minister, Giulliano Amatto and the Central Bank Director, Antonio Fazio.

The Zimbabwe President, Robert Magabi announced that an agreement has been reached regarding the land distribution in his country.

The Russian Army plans new operations in southern Cechenia. According to the Russian sources, there are more than 1000 Cechenian rebels in this part of the country.
