Istanbul

A strong earthquake which occurred 150 kilometres East from Istanbul, killed four hundred people. Approximately 3,000 people have been injured. According to the latest information, the ground is still unstable. The highway between Ankara and Istanbul has been cut. The report for OBN was produced by Jusko Bojadzic from Istanbul.

Washington

At the end of a two day meeting, which marked the fourth anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, BiH politicians and US diplomats decided to establish a joint, cross entity commission against corruption. A conclusion which was made at the last night meeting in Dayton, Ohio, was that the Dayton Peace Agreement stopped violence and a big crisis in the Balkans but there had not been enough results regarding its implementation in the last four years. Three members of the BiH Presidency will attend the UN Security Council session tomorrow. The report for OBN was produced by Slobodan Pavlovic from Washington.

Banja Luka

RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik, strongly supported the idea of grater responsibility of BiH politicians in the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement at the conference on the Dayton implementation. OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic, confirmed that during recent visit of the RS Prime Minister to Pale, he said that the RS Government had been trying to provide functioning of joint institutions in BiH and at the same time, to preserve interest of the RS.

Gornje Kolibe (Brod)

Four years after signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, approximately 837,000 refugees had not returned to their pre-war homes. Process of return to the Gornje Kolibe village, in the Bosanski (Srpski) Brod municipality, had started last year. Forty houses have been reconstructed out of 421 pre-war houses. Water and electricity supply system have been currently reconstructed with the support of international organisations. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Muhamed Berbic.

Banja Luka

Thirty nine families have been living in a collective center in Slatina near Banja Luka since 1995. Most of them are old people, invalids and refugees. Conditions of living in the center has been very difficult. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Milorad Milojevic.

Zenicki Put (Zepce)

Residential quarter Zenicki Put has been situated some 500 meters from the center of the Zepce town. Currently, some 100 returnees live here. However, two years after their return, people still do not have the water supply system. Because of that, every day they have to bring water to their houses, OBN reporter from the area, Nela Kacmarcik, confirmed.

Rijeke (Brcko)

This was followed by a report on the gradual reconstruction of houses in the Brcko district. For example, thirty three houses have been reconstructed in the Rijeke village since the beginning of this year and some 34 families have moved in since April. Stup (Sarajevo)

A piece on the Jelic family in the Sarajevo residential quarter, Stup, who started to reconstruct their house with their own funds. Now they hope to get help of an investor who would finish reconstruction their house, OBN reporter, Adis Saranovic, confirmed. Currently, the French humanitarian organisation “Solidarites”, with the donation of the EU, has been reconstructing 260 houses for returnees in Stup.

Cazin

At the last session of the Una-Sana Canton Government, the representatives adopted a draft law on the introduction of addition tax on salaries for the Canton Fund for support of the refugee return process. OBN reporter from Cazin, Azra Bajric, produced a report on what workers think about this new tax.

World

A report on the beginning of the second round of the presidential elections in Macedonia was produced for OBN by Safet Bisevac from Skopje. The reporter confirmed that the number of citizens who have voted in the second round is small. At least 50% of voters plus one have to vote for elections to be successful. This was followed by a report on the health state of the Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman. Doctors announced that the health state of the President have improved since yesterday. Reports on current events in Chechenia, Ukraine and Afghanistan followed.

Milici

A piece on one of the most successful factories in the RS located in Milici. Although the market has been reduced after the war, the factory made some changes in the production and overcame the problem, OBN reporter from the area, Darko Milosevic, confirmed.

Sarajevo

BiH Federation Government has made a decision according to which, citizens who were not on the territory of the BiH Federation since March 31st, but on the territory of the Socialist Republic of BiH, had right to participate in the process of privatisation with their money which had been left in the BiH Federation banks. Tuzla

A piece on the round table meeting about writer Ivo Andric held in Tuzla today. The topic of the meeting was “Work of Ivo Andric in Historical and Social Context”. The report was produced by OBN reporter from Tuzla, Damir Slepcevic.
