Banja Luka

After a month strike organised in December, workers of the Banja Luka company “Incel” have come out to the streets again. Some 600 workers blocked the railroad between Banja Luka and Doboj and the roads to Celinac and Vrbanja. Workers demand salaries for the last twelve months and health and pension security. The roads were blocked for an hour and a half. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Biljana Arsic.

Sarajevo

Four border crossings, Izacic, Doljani, Zvornik and Aerodrom Sarajevo, will be controlled by BiH Border Service from the beginning of this summer. This Service should take control over all border crossings in BiH in one year period. Some 1,500 workers will be employed in this Service. OBN reporter, Sanjin Beciragic, produced the report.

Brcko

A piece on the press conference on the Brcko District, held by the International Supervisor, Robert Farrand. After inauguration of the Brcko District Interim Government and the Mayor, the Assembly of the District will be also inaugurated in a few days time. The report was produced by OBN reporter from Brcko, Slobodanka Radojkovic.

Mostar

The International Mediator, Christian Schwarz Schilling, met only with the Bosniak authorities in Mostar because the Croat representatives did not show up. The meeting was about implementation of the Mostar Agreement. Christian Schwarz Schilling stressed that the current situation in Capljina reminded him on the tyranny from the past and that this town had chosen isolation, OBN reporter from the area, Alisa Dzebo, confirmed.

Zagreb

The Croatian Parliament discussed their relation with the Hague Tribunal behind closed doors. The Government will prepare a platform for the future relations the Republic of Croatia and submit it to the Parliament within the next three weeks. Gordana Simonovic produced the item for TV INFO.

The US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, warned in Brussels that intensifying of tensions in the Balkans was possible in the spring. Russian planes continued bombing of Chechen posts. The Russian Acting President, Vladimir Putin, announced that Moscow will establish direct administration over Chechnya after the presidential elections. Reports on Colombo and Pakistan followed. Sarajevo

The Netherlands will donate 14,5 million DEM for the establishment of market economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The representatives of the BiH and Netherlands Governments signed a memo on understanding today. In the last two years, the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Relations invested six million DEM in BiH. OBN reporter, Adis Saranovic, produced the report.

Tuzla

An item on the situation with the oil in the BiH Federation. Distributors ask from the Government to cancel monopoly and follow decrease of prices on the world market. Recently, same distributors asked from the Government to increase the price of the fuel. OBN reporter from Tuzla, Alma Hadziefendic, produced the piece for TV INFO.

Sarajevo

A piece on the pensioners in Bosnia and Herzegovina who are in a very difficult economic situation. The main problem is how to provide funding for pension funds. OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic, investigated new solutions for funding.

This was followed by a report on the deminig activities in the Lapisnica area (the road between Sarajevo and Pale) produced by OBN reporter, Anes Alic.

Drvar

The UN Mission in BiH is dissatisfied with the current situation in Drvar. The police and courts do not fulfill their duties and refugees do not return to the town. A small number of those who returnees, do not work, OBN reporter from the area, Suzana Vukcevic, confirmed.

Sarajevo

A piece on the journalist of “Nezavisne novine” from Banja Luka, Zeljko Kopanja, wounded five months ago in Banja Luka, when he lost both his legs. Mr. Kopanja came to Sarajevo for health rehabilitation, OBN reporter, Sevko Bajic, confirmed.

Mostar

The World Bank and international donors funded the construction of the Department for Orthopedics in the Mostar Hospital. The project is worth 2 million dollars. Blazica Kristo produced the item for TV INFO.
