OHR Welcomes Appointment of CBC Government

The High Representative welcomes the news that the Central Bosnia Canton Government has been appointed more than one year after the elections, in line with the constitution and the law. Although it was unfortunate that it took so long, this is indeed a positive sign that the political leaders can reach agreement in the interest of their voters.

“I hope this news is a positive signal that the party leaders will now complete the job of government formation in the two remaining cantons and at the state level,” said the High Representative, Valentin Inzko today. “This initial step, taken in Travnik yesterday, must act as a catalyst. The six political leaders must honour the trust the voters vested in them over a year ago.”

With a new government finally in place in Central Bosnia, the parties represented there must work to implement reforms and improve the lives of citizens. “I will be closely following the work of the new Cantonal government in Travnik. With a broad based coalition in place, I expect this government to show a marked improvement on the performance of the previous one and a full commitment to respecting the Peace Agreement,” said the High Representative.
