The Government of the Brcko District today announced the tender for privatization of the following four Brcko District public enterprises:
- UNIS – ZDP TESLA Brcko (production of batteries, lead alloys and equipment);
- LASER Brcko (transport and road traffic services);
- INTERPLET Brcko (production of knitted fabrics and cloths);
- MAJEVICA Brcko (production of furniture).
This is the third group tender launched in the District enterprise privatization process. The tender announced allows participation of all legal and natural persons, and will follow the criteria as established by the District Tender Commission.
Following the successful concept of the previous tenders, the criteria for evaluating the bids will be based on investment obligations, employment plan, purchase price, business plan of an enterprise, and financial reliability of bids and.
“These four companies used to be important parts of the economy before the war and we have every intention to do our best to bring them back into that level of activity. I would like to point out however that we are not naïve. We know that the world has been changing for the past ten to fifteen years and that in some cases these companies will also have to change in very dramatic ways if they are to perform as they once did before,” said the Brcko Supervisor Ambassador Henry L. Clarke at the tender launch press conference. “One thing that I would like to point out is what all four companies have in common, and that is the attractive location for industrial plan and excellent facilities. We are asking buyers to use their knowledge of business and their imagination to make these companies again profitable and modern enterprises.”
Since this is an International Tender, a marketing plan will cover, besides Bosnia and Herzegovina, foreign countries such as Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Turkey, and Yugoslavia.
