High Representative Carlos Westendorp and his Principal Deputy Jacques Paul Klein would like to stress that, in their discussions with President Franjo Tudjman of the Republic of Croatia last Tuesday, they did not suggest that President Tudjman hold a meeting with the leaders and candidates of Croatian political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
If such a meeting takes place, it will entirely and only be at the initiative of President Tudjman.
The High Representative expects that such a meeting will be conducted in the spirit and on the basis of the provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement, for whose implementation the Croatian government is responsible as one of the signatories.
