The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, met today with the president of Slovakia Ivan Gašparovič in Sarajevo. During the meeting Miroslav Lajčák informed president Gašparovič about the political situation in BiH and what Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved so far on its road to Euro-Atlantic integration. He emphasized as the biggest successes the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement as well as the intensified dialogue reached within the NATO Partnership for peace program.

Speaking about the 8 November agreement that was signed in Prud, Lajčák underlined as the biggest benefit for Bosnia and Herzegovina the fact that the agreed reforms, if implemented, would be a firm step towards unblocking reform processes. He also pointed out at the fact that the extent of success of the implementation of the Prud agreement would be a clear indicator of BiH’s readiness to respond to challenges of the EU integration process.

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, and the president of Slovakia Ivan Gašparovič agreed that the road to Euro-Atlantic integration was the only right way for Bosnia and Herzegovina. They also jointly emphasized that the ultimate goal the international community wished to achieve was completely clear – Bosnia and Herzegovina as a peaceful, sustainable country that is irreversibly progressing on the European integration road. Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be fully convinced that the international community is here to help and that it will stay with Bosnia and Herzegovina until the end of its European road.
