High Representative and EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajčák today in Banja Luka met RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik. The meeting was a part of the HR/EUSR’s consultations with BiH political leaders on the implementation of the Prud agreement. The agreement made by the leaders of the SDA, HDZ and SNSD, comes after a significant delay in reforms. It represents precisely what the European Union has been calling for; BiH’s leaders taking the lead in resolving current issues by finding domestic solutions.
“The Prud statement has received support from the European Union and the Peace Implementation Council,” said Lajčák today. “Now it must be transformed into concrete solutions and appropriate legislation”.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Dodik, the HR/EUSR stressed that Peace Implementation Council at its last meeting in Brussels was united in its view that OHR’s transition into the EUSR will not take place before all five goals and two conditions PIC set in February of this year are fully met. “It is in BiH’s interest of to find the solutions for these issues as soon as possible and in that way unblock the reform processes,” HR/EUSR Miroslav Lajčák said. “Failure means that BiH will once again start falling behind its neighbours, which is bad news for everyone”.
