In memory of 21 Spanish soldiers who lost their lives in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, King Juan Carlos of Spain today unveiled a memorial plaque on the “Spanish Square” in Mostar. On this occasion, High Representative Valentin Inzko thanked the King for Spain’s role in bringing peace to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the ensuing reconstruction efforts. “The King’s visit is both an encouragement for citizens and an appeal to local politicians to step up their efforts to bring their country closer to the EU and NATO”, Inzko said.
