Inzko Meets Austrian Federal Minister Ostermayer

High Representative Valentin Inzko met with Austrian Federal Minister for Arts, Culture, Constitutional Affairs and Media, Dr. Josef Ostermayer, in Sarajevo today. Discussions focused on development opportunities and the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

One of the priorities of the newly formed Council of Ministers is to stimulate the economy through infrastructure projects and attracting investments. “There is a great potential in agriculture, forestry, tourism and the energy sector. Bosnia and Herzegovina does not use two-thirds of its hydro potential and is already exporting electricity,” Inzko said. The High Representative also highlighted the outstanding achievements of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the cultural field, especially in the film and music industry.

Inzko commended Austria’s commitment in the political, economic and military fields in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “Following the signing of the Peace Agreement, Austrian companies became pioneers by their investments in the manufacturing industry and banking sector, and they are still referred to as worthy examples for many other investors”, the High Representative said.

Inzko spoke out in favour of continued international engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure that BiH becomes firmly and irreversibly anchored on the path to EU accession. “It is important that the tasks to which we have committed are completed reliably and responsibly,” the High Representative said.
