The current situation in the Stolac Secondary School is unacceptable. Having first in mind the well-being of the children, their rights of access to education must not be hindered by the failure of adults to fulfill their obligations.
The Office of the High Representative calls on all those responsible for the Stolac Secondary School – primarily the Ministry of Education, and the municipality as the founder – to take the necessary measures to ensure that the rights of the children are respected, and that all students are able to attend classes in the new school year, and as well that all graduates are able to apply to higher education institutions without difficulty.
The impending local election campaigns are no excuse for the responsible parties to allow the current situation to persist, and should not ultimately prevent the resolution of the school’s legal status.
