HR/EUSR Visits BiH Constitutional Court

High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko, today visited BiH Constitutional Court and met with the Court President, Seada Palavric. This visit is intended to further strengthen the role of the Constitutional Court as the highest judiciary instance in Bosnia and Herzegovina, tasked to protect and interpret the BiH Constitution as well as to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms of BiH citizens and its constituent peoples.

Fully aware of the number of cases each year and the fact that in some of the cases politicians are trying to influence the proceedings High Representative and EU Special Representative expressed satisfaction to the achievements of the BiH Constitutional Court and his full support to the work that has been done by all the judges and entire institution. «Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the institution of the outmost importance which enables BiH authorities to function and act in accordance with the BiH Constitution. That is why I have decided to visit Court today, to express my support for its work.» HR/EUSR  urges all relevant authorities  in  Bosnia and Herzegovina  to provide necessary assistance and guarantees so that the Constitutional Court of BiH would be able to independently perform its responsibilities under the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
