The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Valentin Inzko met today with International Monetary Fund Delegation, led by Costas Christou. Mr Christou briefed the High Representative and EU Special Representative on the discussions IMF had with the governments and they exchanged views on the overall political and economic situation, especially in the light of the global economic crisis and its impact on BiH.
“The effects of the global economic crisis are becoming increasingly evident throughout BiH. Urgent and coordinated measures by all levels of authorities in BiH are needed to alleviate the consequences. It is clear that all government levels in BiH will have to take credible measures. The financial sector in BiH is of particular importance and an effort must be made to maintain its stability and the independence of the financial institutions like the BiH Central Bank” concluded the High Representative and EUSR Valentin Inzko.
