HR/EUSR Lajčák Meets Russian Foreign Ministry Director Alexandar Alekseyev

The High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, met today with Director of the Fourth European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexander Alekseyev, to discuss the current political situation and progress on implementation of the February Peace Implementation Council conclusions. Both HR/EUSR Lajčák and Director Alekseyev reaffirmed importance of BiH’s full commitment to fulfilling the five objectives and two conditions that need to be met before OHR transition.

High Representative and EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčák, briefed the Director Alekseyev on the progress BiH authorities have made in completing the five objectives and two conditions.

Both agreed that assisting Bosnia and Herzegovina in the transfer of responsibilities from the International Community to the local authorities, including with regard to the European integration is the strategic goal and urged BiH institutions to maximize their efforts aimed at the implementation of PIC conclusions.

What is also important for Bosnia and Herzegovina is that all parties adhere to and fully implement the Dayton Peace Agreement, solve the existing problems strictly in accordance with the Constitution of BiH on the basis of consensus among the constituent peoples of BiH.
