The HR today met with Serbian President Boris Tadic,Serbia and Montenegro’s Minister of Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic, and Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica in Belgrade.

He thanked President Tadic and Prime Minister Kostunica for their help in achieving increased co-operation regarding ICTY with Republika Srpska, and expressed his hope that this practical cooperation will deepen.

He said that cooperation with the ICTY is the only way to unblock the obstacle to the region’s progress towards EU and NATO.

Discussions also focused on police reform in BiH. The HR noted that together with ICTY cooperation, police reform is one of the last major reform necessary in order for BiH to embark on the path of EU accession. He said that the RS, as one of the two entities in BiH guaranteed by Dayton , should not feel threatened by police reform. He said police restructuring provides a means of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of policing.
