HR-EUSR Lajčák Meets New Head of EUPM Feller

The High Representative/EU Special Representative and Police Commissioner Stefan Feller today held their first official meeting since Commissioner Feller took charge of the EU’s Police Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 01 November.

Police reform laws allowed BiH to sign the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU; this package of reforms must now be implemented, concluded Miroslav Lajčák and Commissioner Stefan Feller today.

During the meeting the High Representative/EU Special Representative and the Head of the EUPM emphasized that the close OHR/EUSR and EUPM coordination will continue.

Capacity building, harmonisation of police legislation and organization at all levels and the development of democratic oversight bodies will continue to be OHR/EUSR – EUPM priorities.

High Representative and EU Special Representative Lajčák and Head of EUPM Feller condemned the incident that took place in Derventa over the weekend. Violence, and in particular violence directed at returnees, is deplorable. Welcoming the statements made by RS Minister of Interior, Stanislav Cadjo yesterday, Lajčák and Feller agreed that the competent authorities must act swiftly and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
