The High Representative, Paddy Ashdown, following consultations with the Republika Srpska (RS) authorities, today issued a Decision transferring the ownership of the Battery Factory “A.S.” a.d. Srebrenica to the Foundation of the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial and Cemetery. The High Representatives Decision also establishes a Commission, which is to determine the compensation to be paid by the RS to the current owners and users of the Battery Factory before September of this year.
Issuing this Decision the High Representative said “the Battery factory site has a special place in the memory of Srebrenica families as it was the last place many of them saw their beloved relatives alive”. The High Representatives Decision has the full support of the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Foundation’s Executive Board. The Foundation, in consultation with families of victims, will determine the future use of the Battery factory site.
