High Representative Schmidt meets President of Bulgaria Radev

High Representative Christian Schmidt met today with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev to discuss current political developments, focusing on the reforms and challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic path.

Emphasizing the importance of providing Bosnia and Herzegovina with the opportunity to grow and prosper, the High Representative remarked: “Shaping a prosperous future for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens is the primary responsibility of domestic politicians, while the international community stands ready to support genuine local efforts.”

He further noted that a synergy between Dayton and Brussels can help move the country forward, but this will require full engagement from both domestic and international actors. He concluded: “The citizens have long expressed their support for the accession process, and now it is up to the politicians to deliver results that reflect the clear will of the people. Dayton is a solid basis for BiH’s integration in the European Union.”

High Representative Schmidt also expressed his appreciation to President Radev for Bulgaria’s contribution to the international community’s efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bulgaria supports the mission of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina to guarantee the security and stability of the state which is of crucial importance for strenghtening the stability in the whole region. President Rumen Radev added that Bulgaria also firmly assists the efforts of the Office of the High Representative to enhance the very foundation of the democratic process through implementing the necessary reforms that pave the way of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the EU.
