High Representative Responds to Party for BiH Concerns

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, wrote today to Haris Silajdzic, the president of the Party for BiH, clarifying his position with regard to the Party for BiH’s conditions for forming a government, which are directed at the international community.

Mr. Silajdzic in an interview given to the ONASA news agency specified that the International Community must be willing to sanction those who obstruct refugee return, the implementation of the BiH Constitutional Courts’ decision on constituent peoples, and the adoption of State level Laws in the field of economic reform.

In his letter, the High Representative has assured Mr. Silajdzic that he remains committed to pushing the peace process in BiH forward. He emphasized that the Political Directors of the PIC Steering Board have highlighted ten areas that incoming governments should focus on. The High Representative also remarked that the speedy formation of a constructive coalition government would send a positive signal to the international community that faster progress is possible in BiH.
