High Representative Meets SDS Delegation

Upon the request of the SDS, the High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, today received a delegation from that party at his offices in Sarajevo.

During a frank and wide-ranging discussion, the High Representative emphasized that he expected the SDS to act responsibly in its capacity as an opposition party at both the state and entity level.

The SDS are further required to demonstrate full compliance with the letter and spirit of the Dayton Peace Agreement, particularly in the field of refugee returns. Lack of significant progress in the RS in this field is of the utmost concern to the International Community.

The High Representative also expects unconditional compliance with the Human Rights Chamber decision on the rebuilding of mosques.

The High Representative noted that in the past, the SDS has had close relations with Belgrade. He reminded the representatives that the SDS will remain on difficult ground if its membership continues to be closely connected to indicted war criminals both inside and outside Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In regard to the vacant post of Presidency of the RS, the OHR will continue to monitor the overall situation in that entity.
