High Representative Valentin Inzko paid his respects to Srđan Aleksić today at the Podgljivlje Cemetery, together with Srđan’s father Rade Aleksić and Trebinje Mayor Slavko Vučurević. “Srđan Aleksić is one of the greatest heroes of our time, a man who lost his own life defending another man’s right to live. To give one’s life for the life of another person is a heroic act. As his father Rade wrote in his obituary in 1993 , Srđan died ‘fulfilling a human duty’ – this is why Srđan’s memory is very important. When we remember him, we always have to bear in mind one fact above all: we are all just humans; we should not do evil to others and we must fight evil, regardless of who commits it,” the High Representative said.
