High Representative ensures continued operations of Elektroprijenos BiH

Following consultations with Ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) Steering Board and acting on behalf of the local authorities, High Representative Valentin Inzko today issued a decision to ensure the continued operations of Elektroprijenos BiH.

The mandate of four members of the Management Board of Eletroprijenos BiH expired more than a year ago, while the term of the General Director of Elektroprijenos BiH will expire tomorrow. So far there have been no attempts by the managing bodies of the company to initiate the appointment procedures for the aforementioned positions.

The decision orders the members of the management board of Elektroprijenos BiH to appoint a new General Director without delay, and re-affirms the principle of continuity of function under which the mandate of an office holder continues until a replacement is appointed, except if otherwise provided by law.

In his decision, the High Representative recalls that the PIC Steering Board had expressed concern that “operations of Elektroprijenos BiH had seriously deteriorated as a result of the continued boycott by the RS authorities of the Management Board” and “urged the RS Government to promptly and constructively reengage in the company and contribute to its smooth functioning”.

Ambassadors of the PIC Steering Board reiterated this concern today and gave their full support to the High Representative to undertake measures to maintain the continuity of business operations of Elektroprijenos BiH in accordance with the law, thus ensuring its undisturbed public service to the benefit of all citizens of BiH.
