The High Representative, Paddy Ashdown, today issued a Decision appointing Judge Carlos Jorge Martins Ribeiro, a Portuguese Civil and Criminal Law Judge, an international member of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Councils of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and the Republika Srpska (RS).
Judge Ribeiro replaces Judge Carlos Lobo, appointed in August 2002, who has resigned. The appointment of Judge Ribeiro has the full support of the HJPC’s President, Judge Jan Erik Oja, and will ensure that the HJPC’s crucial work, ensuring that the most qualified and expert legal professionals serve as Judges and Prosecutors, continues.
This appointment is made in accordance with the applicable State and Entity legislation and is effective immediately.
