The Supervisor of Brcko, Robert W. Farrand, issued an Order today appointing the 29 councilors of the interim Brcko District Assembly, in accordance with the arbitral Final Award and the Statute of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With this Order, the Supervisor also appointed Mr. Mirsad Djapo as President and Mr. Miodrag Pajic as Vice-president of the interim Assembly.
The Supervisor is satisfied that the interim Assembly fairly reflects political life in the Brcko District. Professional qualifications were taken into account in choosing persons from the candidacy lists submitted. It is worth noting that 27,6% of the appointed Assembly councilors are women.
The Supervisor emphasizes that this is an interim arrangement that will allow the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina to get well established and developed in its initial phase. The appointed councilors will serve until elections for the Brcko Assembly are held.
