Decision to declare Mr. Drago Tokmacija’s election for the position in the Steering Board of the Cantonal Privatization Agency in Canton 10 null and void

To:Mr. Anto Omadzic,
Chairman of the Assembly, Canton 10

Sarajevo, November 29, 1999

Dear Mr. Omadzic,

I have been informed that the Cantonal Assembly recently approved Mr. Drago Tokmacija’s candidacy for a position in the Steering Board of the Cantonal Privatization Agency of your Canton.

You are certainly aware that, following the well known events in Drvar on April 1998, the High Representative had to order the dismissal of Mr. Tokmacija as Deputy Mayor of Drvar. This was done by the High Representative’s decision of April 16, 1998 and in accordance with the authority vested in me under the Bonn PIC Declaration.

Mr. Tokmacija has a proven record of obstructing the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. Therefore, and pursuant to the decision mentioned above, he is not entitles to hold public office of any kind.

Noting that the Cantonal Assembly elects the members of the Steering Board of the Privatization Agency, we consider that this appointment violates the above-mentioned ban on public office. Therefore, I declare Mr. Drago Tokmacija’s election null and void. We urge you to ensure that the Cantonal Assembly elects a replacement.

Sincerely,

Wolfgang Petritsch
High Representative
