Brussels: PDHR David Robinson meets Fernando Gentilini and briefs PSC members

Principal Deputy High Representative, David M. Robinson, visited Brussels for as series of meetings to discuss the current political situation in the country and the tasks ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic path. During the visit, PDHR Robinson met with Fernando Gentilini, EEAS Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, other EU officials as well as Ambassadors of member countries and their representatives in the Political and Security Committee (PSC) – a key EU foreign policy body – and the Working Party on the Western Balkans Region (COWEB), which is responsible for issues concerning the EU’s relations with the Western Balkans.

“The complementarity of international mandates in Bosnia and Herzegovina is an advantage to BiH’s success on its Euro-Atlantic path. However, more important is the attitude of elected officials and political leaders towards undertaken commitments” said PDHR Robinson.

Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to establish authorities at all levels as soon as possible and start delivering on its election promises to citizens – investments, job creation and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Welcoming the EU initiative for BiH and the Written Commitment by BiH political elites as significant steps towards BiH’s future as a stable, viable, peaceful and multiethnic country within the European Union, PDHR Robinson said that “the EU initiative and Compact for Growth and Jobs is a clear signal that the EU and the wider international community want BiH as a partner. Now it is up to BiH leadership to deliver both to citizens and to international partners on the undertaken commitments”.
