Brcko Supervisor Susan Johnson today issued a Supervisory Order introducing measures against corruption and political influence in the process of selection of professional public employees.
The selection process for six heads of subdivisions within the Brcko District Administration revealed a series of irregularities applied in employment of public employees. The District government has fostered a culture in which corrupt political influence is routinely exerted in the selection of professional public employees. The Chairman of the Employment Board has permitted the Board to succumb to political influences, and the Mayor of Brcko District has failed to take measures to prevent this.
The most recent example of many was that a candidate, properly selected by the interview panel, was subsequently replaced with another candidate by irregular amendment to the Employment Board’s decision, upon improper influence from senior members of the Government and the Assembly.
Therefore, the Supervisor appointed heads of six subdivisions within the District Government in light of the improper and delayed process of their selection.
Supervisor Johnson also ordered that all District government officials have to comply meticulously with the law. Any failure to do so may necessitate immediate and permanent dismissal from government positions.
Until the adoption of a new law regulating the employment of public employees, any decision employing any public employee in any capacity whatsoever, passed by the District government or by any individual, must have the prior Supervisor’s consent in writing, or it will be null and void. Also, no further vacancy will be issued without the Supervisor’s written consent.
