Brcko Supervisor Invites Brcko District Residents to Declare Entity Citizenship/ Voting Option

Brcko Supervisor Raffi Gregorian expressed support for the outreach campaign organized by the Brcko District Department of Public Records and the Election Commission inviting Brcko residents who did not declare their entity citizenship/voting option prior to and in the October 2006 general elections, and who wish to and are eligible to vote in the 9 December 2007 election for President of the Republika Srpska to do so.

Supervisor Gregorian reminds that the Constitution of BiH, the Law on Citizenship of BiH, and the Election Law of BiH provide for citizenship of both Entities within Bosnia and Herzegovina (citizenship of the Federation and of Republika Srpska), and for citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the residents of Brčko District may vote in the elections of the Entity of which they are a citizen.

Residents who are already registered to vote with the Republika Srpska entity citizenship/voting option are already eligible to vote and need take no further action to  participate in the December 9, 2007 election.

The Brcko Supervisor encourages residents who have not  already declared their entity citizenship/voting option and who do wish to vote in the December 9, 2007 election for President of the Republika Srpska,  to register  as soon as possible with the Brcko District Voter Register Office, but no later than November 19, 2007.  Failure to do so will prevent their being able to vote on December 9, 2007.

All the necessary information can be obtained  from the Brcko District Voter Register Office.
