Under the auspices of the Supervisor of Brcko, Ambassador Henry L. Clarke, an agreement on roads in the Brcko District was signed between the governments of the Brcko District and the entities in Brcko today.
The Agreement establishes responsibilities for maintenance and oversight of roads in the area of the Brcko District and allocation of revenues generated from these sources.
By the Agreement, the District is responsible for maintenance and oversight of the regional and local roads in the area of the Brcko District, the 9 km part of M.14.1 primary road between Plazulje and Gredice, and the 5,4 km part of M.1.8 primary road between Cerik and Porebrice, as well as the collection and retention of the revenues generated from these routes.
The Agreement also includes a joint acknowledgment of the necessity of constructing a bypass road around Brcko. The governments of the Brcko District, Republika Srpska and BH Federation are to commence negotiations on sharing the funding for the bypass road by the end of this year.
