High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko met today with German Defense Minister Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg and briefed him on the status of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic integration effort.
Commenting on the fact that BiH was not invited to take part in the NATO Membership Action Plan when the North Atlantic Council met on 4 December this year, the HR/EUSR stressed that BiH’s application for NATO membership is still under review, and the prospects of NATO membership were “still alive and tangible.”
The HR/EUSR thanked Minister Freiherr zu Guttenberg for Germany’s long-standing contribution to peace implementation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed the hope that Germany will continue to support the country’s post-war recovery and Euro-Atlantic integration.
