A Constructive and Proactive Partnership

Bosnia and Herzegovina can emerge from its present political difficulties if the International Community remains engaged in the country, maintaining a constructive and proactive partnership with BiH citizens, High Representative Valentin Inzko said in Luxembourg today.

The High Representative was speaking during a meeting with Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn.

The High Representative said the political agreement opening the way to the formation of a Council of Ministers 16 months after the general election offers hope that the focus of energy can now return to reviving the BiH economy and getting the country back on the road to Europe.

He said the International Community must remain actively involved in order to make sure that this happens. “We need to remain engaged; we need to keep promoting dialogue among the parties, and we need to speak with one voice,” he said.

The High Representative thanked Foreign Minister Asselborn for Luxembourg’s advocacy on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly through its positive stance in successive EU discussions on the Western Balkans.
