The Supervisor of Brcko, Ambassador Henry L. Clarke, attended the ceremony of signing the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin and the Protocol on the Navigation Regime yesterday, 3 December, in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The signatories were Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, and Yugoslavia.
“The signing of these Agreements on the Sava River Basin was a great step forward politically and economically for all four countries. But it was exceptionally important to Brcko, as a step toward the restoration of normal shipping on the Sava and through the Port of Brcko, and toward closer cooperation among the neighboring countries on many other aspects of the Sava River Basin,” stated Ambassador Clarke.
“Unfortunately, the seat of the Sava River Commission was not decided at this meeting. But Minister Svetozar Mihajlovic of the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs and Communications made a strong public statement in favor of Brcko as the candidate of BiH to become the seat of the Commission. Hopefully this question will be resolved in the near future, so the work of establishing the Commission can begin without delay,” Ambassador emphasized.
