The High Representative, Paddy Ashdown together with Council of Ministers Chairman Adnan Terzic traveled on Thursday to Kostajnica, near Konjic, where three members of the Andjelic family were murdered on Christmas Eve.
The High Representative and the Prime Minister were joined by the Herzegovina Neretva Canton Governor Dragan Vrankic, and other senior cantonal officials in extending condolences to bereaved family members.
The High Representative and the Prime Minister were briefed on the police investigation into the murders, and visited Mr. Marinko Andjelic, who was seriously wounded in the attack in Konjic hospital.
Speaking at the family home where the murders took place the High Representative said: “On behalf of the International Community I condemn unreservedly this terrible and inhuman act. I join my BiH partners in sending deepest condolences to all the family and friends.
“The swift action of the police in investigating this crime should give citizens confidence in the authorities.
“If there is any assistance that the International Community can provide then we will provide it. We are committed to ensuring that acts such as this do not go unpunished. The investigation is a matter for the police, not the International Community, but we stand ready to help. Our priority is to ensure that the citizens of this country live in peace and that the process of return is not impeded.”
